Bush & Coastal Walks

Long Bay and Tucks Bay are surrounded by 57 acres of native bush on the hilly slopes towards Coromandel inland. From the campgrounds, you have access to two easy walking tracks:

The Kauri Bush Walk is a pleasant 40min loop walk through the native bush of Long Bay Scenic Reserve. The track starts behind the boat facility area in Long Bay Motor Camp, and gradually climbs up through a grove of young kauri trees, nikau palms and a 330 years old kauri tree. The track eventually descend down to the gravel road connecting Long Bay and Tucks Bay. From here you can either return to Long Bay or head to the secluded Tucks Bay, a prime spot to unpack a picnic lunch.

Tucks Bay Coastal Walk is an easy 15min walk which starts from the far end of Tucks Bay campsite and follows the coast around the rocky point dividing the two campgrounds. Half way along the track, there is a lookout spot, ideal for enjoying the sunset and looking towards both bays. Between the lookout point and Long Bay, you can access some good spots for fishing off the rocks.
