Coromandel Fishing

The boat ramp at Long Bay Motor Camp is your gateway to Coromandel fishing heaven. Mostly renown for the snapper fishing, the Coromandel West Coast offers a wide variety of fish species and sheltered bays. The Coromandel mussel farms provide a constant food source for the snappers, which make them to stick around creating a fishing destination that won’t let you down!

The tidal flow around the points of the islands and main land makes exciting live bait opportunities to get hooked up to kingfish and other species that follows the tidal flow of food.

If you'd rather stay close to shore, the beach track to Tucks Bay gives access to some good rock fishing spots. If you're not sure where to go, ask Des at the Camp Store.

ON SITE BOAT FACILITIES

After your day’s fishing, Long Bay boat wash down area has all the facilities needed to clean up your boat and prepare your catch for the barbeque. Immediately behind the boat ramp, there is a large well-lit wash down area with hose and running water, as well as a covered fish filleting bench with room enough for all our succesfull anglers!

Even in our busy season, we do our very best to find good parking for our visitors trailer boats.
